Finishing the visits in Bangalore today. We began with an overall briefing at Bangalore Baptist Hospital by Dr. Gift Norman, a general surgeon, who explained the hospital's community outreach program. The hospital has a rural and urban focus. The urban outreach is with an NGO, but the rural arm is a small hospital donated by a Muslim man who Dr. Naylor knew when she worked at the hospital. Later we visited the clinic, called Mother Theresa Hospital 27 kilometers from BBH. The hospital sends out teams to conduct health camps for treating alcoholism, Tb, leprosy and skin cancer. The Hospital also uses mobile clinics to provide medical care in rural areas. The outreach is amazing and follows what Jesus taught --to spread the Gospel and heal the sick. After a great lunch at Kabob's Studio, we were briefed on how research is an essential part of church planting efforts. Perhaps the most impressive part of the briefing was the personal story of one of people whose family was evacuated from Africa more than 20 years ago when war broke out. Our day ended with Pastor Subba Rao giving his testimony of growing up an orphan and never hearing about Jesus until he was an adult. He now serves as a church planter for the Indian Baptist Society. His vision is to have 50000 house churches by 2025. Some of the group will head hack to Delhi tomorrow, while a few will head for our homes leaving in the wee hours of Thursday morning. I've enjoyed keeping you posted on our trip and hope you enjoyed rearing it. May God bless you all!

Bangalore Hospital

We spent most of today at Dr. Rebekah Naylor's hospital with tours and briefings about the hospital. With 10 chaplains for a 300-bed hospital, it is easy to see that community outreach is a priority. The chaplains specialize in areas such as hospice home care, Sunday services, and community service. From their efforts 29 house churches have begun. About 75% of the 800+ staff are Christians. With 15 acres or land the hospital includes medical training for internationals and the Rebekah Naylor School of Nursing. Many young women who are poor are given scholarships and attend 2.5 year program which includes practical experience at the hospital. In Sept.the school will offer a bachelor degree program. The facility is looking at expanding with a 9 story nursing dorm. The work is the Lord's and the fields are plenty in this city of 10 million. Please pray for God's workers as they minister to so many with such great needs. Pray for the masses as they struggle to survive against insurmountable odds that only God can change with His love and hope of eternal life.

It was great to be in God's house today and worship Him with people from North America to New Zealand to many parts of Asia. Did I mention where this church is located? It is none other than the church started by William Carey in 1809 when he lived in Calcutta. We had lunch with our friends in Kolkata at a wonderful Indian Bar-b-que downtown before heading to the airport for the 2.5 hour flight to Bangalore. Dr. Naylor met us at the airport and tomorrow we visit the hospital for most of the day. Please pray for improved health of some of our team members and praise God for the opportunities we experience while seeing His work.

Super Saturday

After a wild ride through old Calcutta this morning, and a walk down the streets of the red lights district, we came to a place of peace and redemption -- Love Calcutta Arts-- where women and girls are redeemed. This is the site of WorldCrafts work-- making books, saree blankets, cards, parts for the electronic rust prevention of Australian cars, and water filter parts. This gives the daughters of sex workers a hope for a better life as well as job skills and most importantly an invitation to etrrnal lifts. Next we walked a few blocks to see the Australian run Free Set buildings. Love Calcutta employs 18 women, while Free Set has about 200. Both have the same basic goals of redemption, but their operations are vastly different. Free Set mass produces a variety of tote bags and t-shirts. They are also in the process of remodelling their space to make room for more women. So,buy WorldCraft items and help these and more girls and women be free, indeed. Keep praying.
Greetings from Kolkata, This has been a great day for learning about God's work with oral people in Asia, thru Bible stories. The NT was translated into an Asian language, but after the process of printing was completed the translators realized that none of the people could read. So they began to explore ways of presenting the NT thru audio systems. Finally a man decided to use the SD card for phones and multiply the capability with Bluetooth technology. Then he could send the audio to all the phones in the area and each person could listen to the NT. What an awesome concept! Then we divided into small groups and walked along dusty. roads to pray for the people. We saw the tea fieldsthe processing plant and warehouse which was nothing more than a brick building that employed many workers and very little equipment. On the way back to the hotel Billy shared his testimony with a man at the village store. Another group went to a large tea field. As they walked through the field a man invited them to sit outside his home (a shanty with a dirt floor) to have tea with him. One of the local workers will follow up with him next week. The flight to Kolkata was another lesson in cultural differences. So many lessons to be learned. Please continue to pray for our team.

Good morning It is Thursday,so we are on our way to Siliguri to learn more about WorldCraft opportunities. Yesterday we met one of the artisans who shared his incredible story of reading the Bible as he supervised workers. He was filling his time, but God was filling his heart. It was proof that the Word never comes back void. But when his heart was full, others began to persecute him. He even had to leave his wife and children behind. Then God brought a couple into his life. It was all part of God's plan for him to start a new business using his management abilities. He travels to villages and works with others to create beautiful jewelry. We met a group of our workers attending an area conference and heard passionate reports of the millions who still need to hear the message. But they were encouraged by the multiplication of nationals sharing with their communities. What an inspitation this has been for each of us with God pulling our heartstrings as only He can do.
